National Aboriginal Day is held to nurture respect and understanding among community members. It is organized by a group of community volunteers and would not be possible without the generous support of community sponsors. The celebrations will include a Pow Wow, open air concert, community feast, artisans and ceremony to honour Aboriginal contributions to shaping Canada as a country. An educational component is included in partnership with regional school boards to involve local artists, performers, and elders teaching students a variety of cultural activities (storytelling, arts, traditional teachings, and interactive craft and learning stations). Our objective is to nurture a community connected in its diversity through our event. This event requires upwards of 30 volunteers to make it possible.
